Instagram's feed will now show users recommended posts - a change that earlier this month was spotted while in testing, and has since quietly gone live.

This is not the first time that the Facebook-owned company has offered recommended content.

Photo-sharing platform Instagram is introducing a "recommended for you" feature - which was so far being tested within a small group - to all users.

New Instagram test adds posts your friends like into your feed

"The platform will suggest posts within users" main feeds based on what their friends have "liked", as well as what accounts they follow, according to Techcrunch, which reports that the update began rolling out earlier this month. It means users scrolling through their home feed will now no longer only see posts from accounts they directly follow alongside the ads. To accompany this update, Instagram has made a decision to implement their "recommended" posts into users' main feeds in hopes of attracting a more widespread option of what you might like. However, things have changed and Instagram users will now be viewing the content directly on their homepages.

However, there is one fundamental difference between the hashtag feature and the new "recommended posts" feature. The feature has been described in the official website's Help documentation section. With these new changes, Instagram users will not only see stories and posts from accounts they follow but additional, relevant content from their wider network. The social media platform did not give any clear indications on when exactly will the new update be fully available to all its users. In the meantime, for fans who would like to take advantage of the option to temporarily hide recommended posts, they can head over to the Help Center to view the full details and the steps needed to do so.

IG hasn't yet confirmed a date that the "Recommended for You" transformation will be complete on both iOS and Android.
