Human Rights Day is the day adopted by the National General Assembly in 1948. Every year Human Rights Day marks conferences around the world dedicated to ensuring that these ideals are pursued, and that the basic Human Rights of every person is made a priority in the global theater.

The Human Rights Day should be a time for reflection for those in positions of responsibility and power - including politicians and the security forces - and ordinary Kenyans. In 2011, after the Arab Spring pro-democracy protests in the Middle East, the day recognized the importance of social media and technology in the battle for human rights. Exercising this right significantly allows each of us to have our say every five years, on who governs us.
