Hillary Clinton May Face New Trouble With FBI

The latest news supports our view that Mr. Mueller is too conflicted to investigate the FBI and should step down in favor of someone more credible.

Trump and Republicans appear to be building such a case to undermine the Mueller probe, which has already unleashed charges against four former Trump aides and increasingly menaces the White House and Trump's family.

I think Peter Strzok, head of counterintelligence at the FBI; Peter Strzok, the guy who ran the Clinton investigation, did all the interviews; Peter Strzok, the guy who was running the Russian investigation at the FBI; Peter Strzok, Mr.

Representative Steve Chabot, an Ohio Republican, said "the depths of this anti-Trump bias on the Mueller team just goes on an on".

The senior Democrat on the committee, Rep.

A top FBI investigator, Peter Strzok, was recently removed from the special counsel's probe after revelations that he texted anti-Trump, pro-Clinton messages to a woman with whom he was allegedly having an extramarital affair.

Given the opportunity to publicly address Trump's comments, Wray pushed back on the idea that the FBI's reputation is "in tatters" and the "worst in history".

Wray only said that his agency "will not hesitate to hold people accountable after there has been an appropriate investigation", and that "as to the access to the dossier, that's something that is subject of ongoing discussion between my staff and the various intelligence committees".

"The FBI that I see is tens of thousands of fearless men and women working as hard as they can to keep people they will never know safe from harm". As CNN reported, Strzok changed Comey's key description of Clinton's actions from "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless".

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., praised the FBI and Justice Department, but added, "Unfortunately, the last two years have not been good years for the bureau, and they have not been good years for the department".

Yet another member of special counsel Robert Mueller's team has raised suspicions of political bias. The firing of James Comey exacerbated the situation, and made Wray's tenure even more challenging. A few months later, as Comey looked into possible collusion between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign to swing the USA presidential election, the president fired Comey.

Republicans at Thursday's hearing renewed their demands for a second special counsel to be appointed to investigate Clinton and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, particularly in light of new information that a senior agent on the Clinton case allegedly exchanged anti-Trump and pro-Clinton messages with another senior Federal Bureau of Investigation official during the presidential campaign. "And my big concern is that local law enforcement will misinterpret that and will clamp down on people exercising their First Amendment rights".
