USA urges world to cut ties with N Korea

The United Nations Security Council is set to meet later this month to discuss North Korea's nuclear programme after the reclusive country tested an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching anywhere in the continental USA earlier this week.

Analysts at Image Sat International unveiled the new construction just two days after the rogue nation launched its most powerful missile yet.

The unit was originally to be launched in 2019, but the military expedited the move because North Korea "continues to raise regional tensions with its ballistic missile launches and nuclear experiments", the report said.

The results are in from North Korea's latest missile test, and it looks as if the country's weapons program is advancing despite the US's best efforts.

A missile targeting the U.S. would have to carry a lot of fuel, Duitsman said, noting that the new missile also appears to have a different engine arrangement and improved steering.

According to Elleman, when North Korea demonstrated the 8,000-mile range of the Hwasong-15 and its other long-range missiles, they "likely carried very small payloads".

China is a historic ally and North Korea's most important trading partner and Pyongyang is thought to be dependent on China for much of its oil supplies.

She said the USA did not seek conflict but that North Korea's regime would be "utterly destroyed" if war broke out. This is important given the calls for a tightening of global sanctions against North Korea.

The test - one of several this year - has been condemned by the worldwide community and the UN Security Council called an emergency meeting.

US President Donald Trump said in October he would not certify that Tehran was complying with the 2015 deal and warned he might ultimately terminate it, accusing Iran of "not living up to the spirit" of the accord.

President Trump in a tweet Thursday morning said that North Korea's recent missile launch showed that the Chinese envoy who just returned from the country "seems to have had no impact on Little Rocket Man".
