Tennessee finalizing deal with Greg Schiano to become head coach

The Tennessee Volunteers will reportedly hire a former Buccaneers head coach.

Schiano is now the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Ohio State.

Testimony unsealed from former Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary in a deposition indicated that another former Penn State assistant told McQueary that Schiano had seen former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky "doing something to a boy in the shower".

Schiano's record as a head coach in both the National Football League and at Rutgers may be uninspiring to Vol fans. The Volunteers lost to Vanderbilt 42-24 to finish 4-8, 0-8 in the SEC, their first eight-loss season in school history and their first winless campaign in the SEC.

Schiano was 68-67 at Rutgers, but took the Scarlet Knights to a bowl game in six of his final seven seasons.

Each of the six kids, including the kid who kicked the bucket, were taken to University Hospitals of Cleveland for treatment. Investigators learned the teenagers were on Buckeye Road when three to four males began shooting at them, Ciaccia said.

London's Metropolitan Police said there was no evidence of shots fired or casualties at the Oxford Circus tube station. Passengers fled the station on to Oxford Circus and Regent Street, causing a minor injury to one woman.

Tennessee fired Butch Jones on November 12 after they dropped to 0-6 in SEC play.

Schiano brings a pedigree as a program builder, as he resurrected Rutgers from a century of bad football to make them a nationally competitive program.

Greg Schiano is not yet officially the Tennessee coach, but the state is trying to run him out.

Was Schiano being considered throughout the coaching search? He had been out of coaching since 2013, after he was sacked by the Buccaneers following an 11-21 tenure in two seasons.
