With Kelly out of the picture, the Gators likely will focus on Central Florida coach Scott Frost.

On Saturday morning, the program announced it was officially hiring the head coach, arguably the hottest coach with experience on the market.

Florida may be a better job all-around than UCLA, which makes this move shocking to many people.

"I am thrilled to welcome Chip Kelly to Westwood", said UCLA Director of Athletics Dan Guerrero via statement. "His success speaks for itself, but more than that, I firmly believe that his passion for the game and his innovative approach to coaching student-athletes make him the flawless fit for our program".

The Kelly hiring will bring back a well-recognized name to the Pac 12.

Kelly brings plenty of experience to Los Angeles as he was the head coach with OR, going 46-7 in four seasons with the Ducks and leading them to three conference titles, another division title and a berth in the national title game in 2010.

In the end, Kelly chose to join the UCLA football program to replace Jim Mora, leaving interest from Florida on the table in the process. He previously had been named AP Coach of the Year at OR in 2010-11, when they lost the BCS Championship game to Auburn, compiling a 46-7 record with the Ducks from 2009-12 before jumping to the NFL.

With Florida and Kelly no longer a possibility, UCLA is the increasingly likely new destination for the former coach of the Oregon Ducks - if Kelly returns to coaching.

UCLA defeated California on Friday night under interim coach Jedd Fisch to improve to 6-6 for the season, making the Bruins bowl eligible.
