The most recent study in the region, conducted by FWRM in 2016 with 1013 women, found that one in five women in formal employment in Fiji had experienced sexual harassment in the workplace (Sexual harassment of women in the workplace in Fiji, 2016 follow up study, 2016[i]).

In Afghanistan, the top United Nations official in the country stressed that "life free from all forms of violence is the right of every Afghan woman and girl".

He called on men to speak up on women's rights, stand against violence and promote female leadership in all aspects of society. This included the introduction of new laws, such as the Prevention of Human Trafficking Act and the Protection from Harassment Act, as well as enhancements to the Women's Charter to provide greater protection for women.

Sami added the AIHRC had received more complaints regarding denial of alimony to women this year compared to the previous years.

She further noted that everyone who wants to express their support for the campaign can wear anything orange and thus say no to gender-based violence.

Winnipeg Police Service has produced a video aimed at helping end violence against women and girls.

"We're hoping that, through outreach through people seeing this video that more will be reported."
