"One of the features of the department's reporting program is that service members can report allegations of sexual assault at any time and at any place", Nate Galbreath, deputy director of the Defense Department's sexual assault prevention and response office, told the Hill in a statement.

In fiscal year 2014, the post had 212 unrestricted sexual assault reports and 50 restricted reports for a total of 262.

At the Wright-Patterson Air Force base in Dayton, the largest military base in OH and one of the largest air force bases in the country, there were 83 total sexual assault reports since 2013, including 30 in 2016.

The Pentagon for the first time on November 17 made public the number of sexual assault reports taken at each of its installations from 2013 through 2016. The database doesn't show what types of sexual assault were alleged or whether the victims were male or female, and the department notes that incidents reported didn't necessarily happen on the base.

Officials said the Army has worked to establish a professional victim response system to encourage increased reporting, provide top-notch medical and psychological care, and legal resources to ensure victims are protected.

Sexual assaults can be made by active duty service members, adult dependents of service members and civilians who allege they have been assaulted by service members.

When he got it back he put the magazine back in, apparently loaded a round in the chamber, and put the gun back in its holster. The husband and wife were flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The report broke down sexual assault allegations by service and installations over four years, and found that the greatest number of reports were made in the Army - the largest of the USA military services. Since then, the percentage of DoD victims choosing to report has increased over the years. In 2013 there were 37 reported assaults. The Pentagon received 125 reports of sexual assaults in combat theaters in 2016, up from 118 in 2015.

To report an incident as a restricted report means to report without referral for criminal investigation or to commanders.

The Marine Corp Air Station New River had 16 total reports in 2013, 32 in 2014, 27 in 2015 and 32 in 2016.

Sexual assault in the military has been the focus of some lawmakers in recent years.

In fiscal 2016, there were 24 reports of sexual assault at the U.S. A report could involve allegations for an incident that occurred while on deployment, while away on leave, or even prior to entering the military.

The figures released on Friday come after a separate report earlier this year which highlighted how there had been a steady increase of sexual assault reports over the past several years.
