Apple now says it needs more time to ideal the speaker's technology. Although Siri was early to the voice assistant party, the company is late to the smart speaker trend.

Apple is expected to sell the HomePod for $349, a considerable premium above Amazon's Echo, now on its second generation, which sells for $99.99 on Amazon, and the Amazon Show, which includes a display screen, which sets customers back $229. "We'll start shipping in the US, UK and Australia in early 2018".

Apple has announced that its HomePod smart speaker will not arrive before the holidays and has been delayed until next year. This is speculation, of course - unless Apple provides more information, we may never know the reason behind the delay. Apple HomePod will be its first big new hardware product since the Apple Watch. "The market's getting more and more competitive".

'Very disappointed' United Nations chief urges Saudis to lift Yemen blockade
But the coalition has made little progress, and the rebels still control much of northern Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa. It says over 50,000 children are believed to have died in 2017.

Airbus to sell 430 planes to USA firm in £37.5bn deal
Ethiopian Airlines announced an order for four Boeing 777 freighters in a deal valued at more than $1.3 billion at list prices. Landing such a massive deal is a coup for John Leahy, Airbus's chief salesman who is due to retire in the next few months.

What Apple claims makes the speaker really stand out from the crowd of networked home assistant speakers is its sound quality: The device sonically asses the room it's in, and adjusts the speakers so that the sound best fills each individual space that it occupies.

HomePod is created to work with an Apple Music subscription and iPhone 5s and above running iOS 11.

The $349 HomePod was unveiled in June and pitched as a premium music speaker with Siri voice controls. And if you put two HomePods in the same room, both will be aware of the other's presence and will combine forces to improve the capability of the two devices.
