Pictures taken at the right time show a crescent Moon that appears to be a smile when paired with the planetary conjunction of seemingly nearby Jupiter and Venus.

On this day in 2008, visible the world over, was an unusual superposition of our Moon and the planets Venus and Jupiter.

As seen past year, the two planets will appear like a giant, bright ball of glob.

You should go out about 45 minutes before sunrise, and can expect a better a view if you stand on a hilltop or balcony, according to EarthSky.

However, while it might look like worlds are about to collide, Venus and Jupiter will in reality be hundreds of millions of miles apart.

Timing is everything as the pair rise just eighty minutes before the Sun but if you leave it too late then the sky will be too bright to see them.

About an hour before sunrise on Monday morning, Venus and Jupiter will rise as one, in a spectacle that will amaze stargazers.

Significantly closer and visible to Jupiter's lower left is Venus, appearing through Earth's atmospheric clouds as unusually blue. The sun rises at 6:19am, so you'll want to be out by 5am.

The conjunction also happened in 2015 and 2016, when the two planets appeared even closer together.

To see the bright planets you'll need to wake up early, at least an hour before dawn, Monday morning. Seeing the sun through a telescope or binoculars can cause serious eye Problem without proper sun filters.
