After Goddard tried to remove The Notorious from the cage, the Dubliner chased the official across the mat despite the attempts to hold him back.

On the bill was Charlie Ward, McGregor's teammate, taking on John Redmond. Seconds after Ward won, McGregor hopped into the cage to celebrate with Ward but then he got into a physical altercation with referee Marc Goddard. Even more, he brought attention to Bellator MMA, UFC's chief rival.

What started as a middle-of-the-road Bellator fight card that was to air on Spike TV on a tape delay due to the time difference between the United States and Ireland took an interesting turn on Friday.

The Bellator employee that McGregor slapped was Mike Johnson, and the organization released a statement Friday night saying it is looking into the incident.

McGregor should not have been in the cage under any circumstances considering he was not an official member of Ward's corner. At UFC Fight Night 118, Goddard stopped a fight between Artem Lobov and Andre Fili to order McGregor to stop coaching from outside the cage.

When McGregor initially left the cage, he turned around and ran back into the enclosure shouting "that was a f*cking stoppage" before he was again asked to leave. McGregor continued yelling and kept trying to get at Goddard.

While the matchup seems to be made, negotiations are in place with McGregor's team and the UFC.
