LiAngelo Ball, the younger brother of Los Angeles Lakers star Lonzo Ball, was among three college basketball players arrested in China on suspicion of shoplifting, United States media reports said yesterday. The three are now at that hotel and will not take part in Friday's game against Georgia Tech in Shanghai.

The punishment could be for 20 days and served in the hotel where they are staying.

The three were arrested for reportedly shoplifting from a Louis Vuitton next to the hotel. "The University is cooperating fully with local authorities on this matter, and we have no further comment at this time".

Ball, the younger brother of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, plays guard and teammates Hill and Riley are forwards. However, the fact that the players have already been released on bail is a good sign, something that is uncommon in the Chinese legal system. While the three athletes remained in Hangzhou, the rest of UCLA's Bruins basketball team continued their trek to Shanghai to play Georgia Tech on Friday.

LaVar Ball; his wife, Tina; and LaMelo Ball were having breakfast with the UCLA team in Shanghai on Wednesday morning.

The U.S. State Department and UCLA Athletics officials declined to address how long legal proceedings might take.
