The series, as yet untitled, will follow the lives of the morning show hosts there to wake America up each day, and the "unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual".

The series does not have a title or any finished scripts yet, but Apple has already placed a two-season straight-to-series order that will encompass 20 episodes after a bidding war between multiple outlets, per The Hollywood Reporter. Witherspoon, Aniston and Michael Ellenberg, a former HBO executive whose company is producing the show, shopped it around starting in the summer, and Apple won the rights to it. Aniston's and Witherspoon's respective production companies will have ownership in the series as well, giving the duo a bigger stake in the project.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are headed to Apple. Between Aniston's TV legacy and Witherspoon's recent small-screen awards buzz, thanks to Big Little Lies, we're guessing plenty of viewers will be interested-but will they be willing to pony up for yet another streaming service just to watch this drama, or the Steven Spielberg anthology series Amazing Stories?

The Oscar victor comes off of HBO's Emmy-award winning series Big Little Lies where Witherspoon also produced and starred with Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman.

Jay Carson (House of Cards) is writing, executive producing, and serving as showrunner for the series.

Friends star Jennifer Aniston has made the leap back into the TV world with producing partner Reese Witherspoon.

Since leaving his position as head of drama at HBO, Ellenberg has focused on development and has teamed with Bron Studios to launch Media Res. To date, Apple's original projects Planet of the Apps and Carpool Karaoke have been released on the subscription-based Apple Music platform, but tech analysts expect Apple to broaden that strategy.
