Selena Quintanilla is Receiving Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

For the friends and family of the late Queen of Tejano music, "The wait is over!" During the 1987 Tejano Music Awards, Selena snagged both the "Best Female Vocalist of the Year" and "Performer of the Year" awards. Some of her most popular songs include: Bidi, Bidi Bom Bom, Dreaming of You, No Me Queda Mas, Amor Prohibido and Como La Flor. She was breaking into the English-speaking music charts.

Jennifer Lopez notably portrayed the songstress in Selena, a biographical film about her life and career.

On October 17, Google celebrated the 28th anniversary of her first studio album, "Selena" by dedicating a special doodle to its release. Mayor Eric Garcetti and actress Eva Longoria are expected to speak at the unveiling, joined by Selena's family. Selena continues to be influential after her fatal wounding in 1995 by the former President of her fan club.

"Selena's fans will be showing love and will be excited to be a part of this magical moment in time honoring my sister that will only happen once", she added. Twenty-two years after her tragic death, the Tejano queen's legacy is still strong and finally being recognized in a major way by the entertainment industry.
