A Twitter account linked to former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci's so-called news outlet tweeted out a poll Tuesday about how many Jews were killed in the Holocaust.

T hen Lance Laifer took personal responsibility for the posting and apologized.

And distancing Scaramucci himself further from the horrifying misstep, he tweeted: 'This is @lancelaifer and I apologize if anyone was offended by the Holocaust poll'.

In a tweet sent out this afternoon, Scaramucci claimed that Laifer had sent the poll out as part of an effort to "promote Holocaust education" following the controversy over an Anne Frank Halloween costume. He is the founder of a pay-for-click web search engine called Bay9 Inc., he runs Old Forge Media, and he also works at a investment advisory firm.

People on Twitter were swift to inform him of that. "We can stomach this because it doesn't happen to our neighbors, to our kids".

Later, Lance Laifer, who tweets on behalf of the Scaramucci Post Twitter account, shared a screenshot of the poll, taking full responsibility for the poll and making sure to note that Scaramucci, who is now in London, was unaware of its posting.

Today (Tuesday), former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, who was sacked from his position at the White House after 10 days, sparked a storm when a controversial tweet was posted on his new media page. He never really clearly defined what this would be, but in recent weeks, it has mainly been a Twitter account that shares news from other sources and posts polls, some of which are somewhat sarcastic.

The Anti Defamation League was among those calling for the site to pull the poll.

Do you know anyone who is a Holocaust denier?

Users on Twitter expressed anger and disbelief at the poll, suggesting it was making light of the horror of the Holocaust and an act of trolling.

The problem with Laifer's defense is that the Scaramucci Post specializes in opinion polling. The phrase "Holocaust" also began trending on Twitter because of this tweet.
