Addressing women BJP workers in a town hall interaction, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said here on Saturday that soon non-resident Indians (NRIs) would be able to proxy-vote in elections in the country as the government was set to amend the Representation of the People Act. "But given the improper and indecent language he used, I do not think this question deserves an answer".

The RSS hit out at Rahul Gandhi for his remarks that he had not seen any woman attending Sangh "shakhas" in "shorts" and said those scripting speeches for the Congress vice president have no understanding of the Sangh. Two out of the four CCS members today are women, she added. The party has given "four women Chief Ministers and four women Governors".

Responding to a question on Rahul Gandhi's comments, Swaraj said, "Netaon ko aisi baat kehna shobha nahin deta, (it's not suitable for political leaders to talk in such way)".

The governments at the Centre and in states have taken many steps for the security of women, she said.

Ten Arrested In LSU Phi Delta Theta Fraternity Hazing Death
After Gruver was found to be still on the couch the next morning, he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses told police that the fraternity's pledges were forced to drink to excess the night before Gruver's death.

The point Rahul Gandhi was trying to make was the the RSS, the parent organisation of the BJP, was anti-women.

The Union Minister also went on to reject the notion that the ruling BJP was "anti-women". I have never seen any. I was made EAM in May 2014 and now Nirmala Ji is the Defence Minister. "Two out of four CCS members are women now", Swaraj pointed out.

"They are not interested in women's rights". Have you ever seen any woman in the "shakhas" wearing shorts? Irani was also joined in by CM Vijay Rupani's wife Anjali who said, "Rahul probably didn't know that women are active in the RSS since 1936 - well before India won freedom, and well before the Congress vice-president was born". He further said, "Their (BJP-RSS) thinking is, as long as women are silent, all is good".

"The party is making every effort to resolve issues related to women's safety, empowerment and self-reliance", she said.
