Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been suspended by the Giants after showing up to practice Wednesday and leaving shortly thereafter, Ben McAdoo said.

McAdoo told reporters Wednesday that he had a personal conversation with Rodgers-Cromartie, and on Wednesday morning, the veteran corner made a decision to leave the team.

Safety Landon Collins told ESPN's Jordan Raanan that he believes the dispute between McAdoo and Rodgers-Cromartie began Sunday. "He came in today and chose to leave". With two other follow-up questions of how long the suspension will be and if Rodgers-Cromartie will play on Sunday, McAdoo said, "That's all I have for you right now". "We will suspend him", McAdoo said Wednesday.

The 31-year-old is in his 10th National Football League season and fourth with the Giants, having also played for the Denver Broncos (2013), Philadelphia Eagles (2011-12) and Arizona Cardinals (2008-2010).

The Giants starting 0-5 is hard enough but it now seems that they could be dealing with some internal problems in the locker room.

Collins, an All-Pro last season, was hobbled throughout the Giants' game against the Chargers.

The Giants have a bye after that, so Shepard would conceivably get three weeks to treat his left ankle injury before returning to action.

Most teammates did not hear about the Rodgers-Cromartie's situation until after practice. Ross Cockrell entered the game when the Giants used their nickel sub-package, bumping Rodgers-Cromartie back inside.
