The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Captain (retd) Mohammed Safdar as soon as he landed at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport on his return from London, while his wife Maryam Nawaz left for her house, Express News reported.

The arrests follow a non-bailable warrant issued by the accountability court after Safdar failed to appear in previous hearings.

On Monday, the court adjourned the cases till October 13 summoning Nawaz, Maryam and Safdar for indictment, besides separating cases of Hassan and Hussain.

Sharif and his two sons were absent during the hearing as they are in London to attend his wife Kulsoom who is battling throat cancer. Maryam, who was not detained, separately appeared in the same court for the first time.

Ousted Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharifs two sons, now in London, may not appear before the anti-corruption court, taking advantage of their foreign residency, leaders of the ruling PML-N have indicated.

The NAB has filed three cases of corruption and money laundering against Nawaz Sharif, his sons, Maryam, son-in-law, and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

The court also barred Captain Safdar from leaving Pakistan without the court's permission.

Maryam Sharif, however, said that her brothers will decide whether or when to appear before the court.

"These trials will last till the day of judgement unless something emerges in which he (Nawaz Sharif) or anyone from his family is caught", she said.
