Spain's Prime Minister May Suspend Catalonia's Autonomy

About 10 companies have chose to relocate their legal headquarters from Catalonia to other places in Spain over fears of an unilateral declaration of independence, media reported on Saturday.

But uncertainty still haunts the country as Catalan leaders have not backed off from plans to declare the region independent.

Catalonia, the birthplace of Salvador Dalí, is a prosperous region in northeastern Spain with its own language and culture and a population of about 7.5 million. We want companies to return to Catalonia so it is Spain's industrial motor.

"Probably the reaction in Madrid will be the suspension of the Catalan autonomy".
