Sonic the Hedgehog Movie in the Works at Paramount

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter today, Paramount Pictures now has the rights to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Toby Ascher will also serve as executive producer, while Dan Jevons and Dmitri Johnson will be co-producers. Moritz is producing the film under his "Original Film" banner.

Sonic the Hedgehog was initially confirmed as a live-action/computer animated hybrid film in 2014.

Are you excited about the prospect of seeing Sonic and friends on the big screen? With his experience in animation, there might be some hope in this movie, despite the poor reputation of video game adaptations. Sonic works as a video game character, and as a cartoon sometimes; he does not work as a giant, anthropomorphic CGI movie character.

In fact, the Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog comic holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running comic book series that's based on a video game.
