- A man arrested Monday on a weapons charge, who is suspected of menacing people in the Mt. Herman and Monument areas where a well-known cyclist was recently found dead, is also under investigation by authorities in IN in possible connection to the murder of two teens earlier this year.

Investigators told WLS late Wednesday that they're looking into a possible link between Daniel Nations - a 31-year-old man arrested Monday in Colorado's El Paso County after allegedly threatening people with a hatchet - and the February murders of 13-year-old Abigail Joyce Williams and 14-year-old Liberty Rose Lynn German.

Suspicions are quickly mounting that Daniel Nations, who has been officially charged with a single count of illegally possessing a firearm after he was arrested following hatchet threats on Mount Herman Road, could be connected to three murder cases across two states.

Almost a week before Nations' arrest, the body of cyclist Tim Watkins was found in the same area.

The suspect, Daniel Nations is now being held in custody at Teller County Jail for a weapons charge.

Daniel Nations, 31, was arrested while he was driving with an expired IN license on Monday, FOX59 reported. His last known address is less than 100 miles from Delphi, Indiana.

Police in Colorado believe he's responsible for the shooting death two weeks ago of a bicyclist on a trail.

Investigators reportedly found a gun of the same caliber used to kill Watkins and a hatchet in Nations' vehicle.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley has responded, "the office investigates any and every lead brought to their attention, and this case is no exception".

"We are aware of the arrest of Daniel Nations and have been told by law enforcement that he is being looked into".

Police say he was driving a red Chevrolet Prizm with expired IN license plates. "If that should change-with this tip, or any other tip-rest assured we would be sharing such news with all media sources".

Williams and German went missing in February, when they planned to hike this trail on their day off from school.

Nations is a registered sex offender and has convictions for domestic battery and drug possession. No other charges have been filed at this time. He is not now a suspect in Watkins' death.

Nations' bail on the weapons charge was set at $10,000 originally, but was reduced to $2,000 at Wednesday's court appearance.
