Star Trek: Discovery Premiere, Where Can You Watch?

It should be noted that while Discovery may not had reached the pinnacles of its predecessors, the television landscape has changed dramatically in recent years.

And it seems the show's publicity has been working in its favor - as CBS reported a record number of signups today for the All Access streaming service. The renowned Trek insider says he was particularly impressed with the show's depiction of it's central binary star system, which looks likely to play a big role in the upcoming series.

"Trek" has been off the air for a while, and the strategy of reviving the TV franchise via CBS All Access is not without risk.

Marc DeBevoise, the president and COO of CBS Interactive, recently said that putting a high-profile show exclusively on All Access is part of CBS's plan to attract subscribers to the service. The show could have a financial model that works.

The series comes from creators Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, and centers on the Vulcan-raised human Commander Michael Burnam (Sonequa Martin-Green) who finds herself on the U.S.S. Discovery for reasons now unknown. Here, we're just talking about the first episode of each show.

China to ban some petroleum exports to North Korea
He also said, "we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea if forced to defend itself". China now accounts for roughly 90% of North Korea's trade, making it a critical trading partner.

China, responsible for about 90 percent of North Korea's trade, serves as the country's conduit to the global banking system. US analysts now estimate that North Korea may have as many as 60 nuclear weapons, according to a Washington Post report.

Russian Federation says Washington, North Korea should calm 'hot heads'
Lavrov suggested that perhaps some neutral European country could negotiate between Trump and Kim. The agreement was violated in 2006, when North Korea conducted its first nuclear test.

Star Trek: Discovery will be the show's newest incarnation after an eleven year absence from the screen - with viewers catching up with the goings on of the star fleet.

Not just that, but Star Trek: Discovery is also taking a perhaps more "realistic" approach to its story and characters, grounding them in a way that aligns the series with 2017 Peak TV practices while also adhering - so far, anyway - to classic Trek tropes and themes. Discovery's opening episode, meanwhile, sees the Shenzou investigate a damaged Federation array only to come across a hidden Klingon vessel - though the end results there were slightly more violent...

It's worth noting that there's also a fair bit of the original "Star Trek" woven into "Discovery's" premise, given that it's set about a decade before the events of that program.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star Michelle Yeoh has been confirmed for the first thirteen episodes as Captain of the Discovery, Captain Georgiou.

"Star Trek" fans are. well, let's call it "discerning". "It also feels at home in this era of prestige TV, in which shows like The Handmaid's Tale, Atlanta, Veep, and Master of None recently cleaned up at the Emmys". Instead, it's hoping that the built-in "Star Trek" fanbase will be enough to build a solid audience for CBS All Access. "But at least Martin-Green gives it a pulse".
