Virat Kohli has won the toss as India elected to bat in the first ODI against Steve Smith-led Australia here on Sunday. They clean swept Sri Lanka 9-0 across all three formats in what was a completely one-sided affair.

The Indo-Australia rivalry over the years, have been more traditional with the intensity right up there as lot is always at stake. India on the other hand have managed only 41 wins. They have lost their last eight completed matches on the road, last winning one in September 2016, against Ireland. That's not being fair to the sport and that's something that we as a team do not believe in. With more boxes ticked than otherwise, India will have few issues to address in the series like the no. 4 slot and the no. 6 slot.

Earlier, India chose to bat first in a move that according to captain Virat Kohli was a "no-brainer". "He is obviously a very good player and he has got a phenomenal ODI record", Smith said on arriving in Chennai earlier this week. Australian bowling attack suddenly felt the pressure after that. They face an Indian side which has won 12 of their last 15 ODI matches, all away from the comfort and helpful conditions of India and boasting the unsafe spin of Ravi Ashwin, Ravi Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, the former pair entrenched superstars and the latter two preferred wrist-spinning options who have begun to make the format their own.

While Ajinkya Rahane, who was promoted to the top of the order in Shikhar Dhawan's absence, fell meekly for five, captain Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey failed to open their accounts. Captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the first game of five-match One-day worldwide series and promptly saw his side 3 down for next to nothing.

Watch Jennifer Garner sob about Hamilton while on laughing gas

Google sued for discrimination against women employees
The former employees claim the company consistently pays men more for doing similar work as women in similar conditions. In April, a Labor Department investigation of the tech firm found evidence of "systemic compensation disparities".

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal celebrates the wicket of Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell during the first one day global cricket match in the India-Australia series at the M A Chidhambaram stadium in Chenna. Interestingly, injury-plagued Aussies namely Josh Hazlewood and James Pattinson are also resting back home.

Australia, meanwhile, will be sweating over the fitness of their opener Aaron Finch. "So obviously youll assess strengths and weaknesses of all sides".

With India coming home from a resounding success in Sri Lanka, in which they won all three Test matches, all five ODI matches, and the lone Twenty20 match, there is an expectation that good form will be built on and that a vulnerable Australian side could provide the ideal cannon fodder for Kohli's men.
