Roy Hodgson sets sights on Crystal Palace survival

Hodgson, whose first game in charge will be against Southampton on Saturday, had graduated through the youth team ranks at Palace in the 1960s and has spoken of his pride at a homecoming.

Hodgson's predecessor Frank de Boer's three-year contract was terminated the day before Hodgson's hiring, after his fourth consecutive defeat in the English Premier League.

In 2014's FIFA World Cup, England were eliminated in the group stage, and past year, following 2-1 defeat against Iceland in Euro 2016, Roy Hodgson announced resignation from the post.

"As far as I am concerned, it is, Crystal Palace, Crystal Palace, Crystal Palace, it's everyone at the club, hierarchy, players, chairman and owners and most importantly perhaps of all, the fans".

And Palace have now gone 450 minutes without a goal this season, the longest ever run from the start of a Premier League campaign. He was replaced by former England manager Roy Hodgson and his arrival has prompted a backroom reshuffle. The only thing that will get you a good start is a performance where you score more goals against the opposition and we certainly didn't do that today.

I'm focused on the next one: "Crystal Palace, Crystal Palace, Crystal Palace".

Hodgson's managerial honours include seven Swedish league titles, two Swedish Cup wins, one Swiss title and one Danish title, while he has also been in charge of four Premier League clubs - Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion.

That is part of the reason Hodgson has been more successful with so-called smaller teams in the United Kingdom like Fulham and West Brom than at, say, Liverpool.

Hodgson was keen to switch his focus to Crystal Palace and wants to put his England career to the back of his as he prepares for their crucial game against Southampton tomorrow. The 70-year-old is now working at a club operating at a similar level and faced with some of the same challenges that confronted him in the Midlands. Determination of the champion or the degraded team will not be determined from the result of the match in September, "said Hodgson".
