South Park Took Over America's Amazon Echos Last Night

This may all sound like familiar territory for South Park.

Even if some may not be fans of the humor offered by "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, those who are, and who own Echo or Google Home device, reported that they were "triggered" by the episode, particularly a scene where Cartman, surrounded by dozens of both (above), decides it would be amusing to have them communicate with each other. Back to the basics. But I've got an idea. It was a mirage because clearly Matt and Trey were itching to make a statement on one of America's many divisive topics right now. When the mob disrupts production, he takes them to court for damages, fearing the association with the white nationalists could harm his show. Just like in the past few seasons, South Park will continue its social commentary-focused episodes. It would not be surprising at all if the show will feature President Trump speaking regarding the issue, and if this were the case, it would be interesting to see how the creators would pull it off.

Oh, and if you're frustrated with Alexa, just get yourself a Jim Bob.

And the latest episode from the new season couldn't reflect that more. The nice thing about this show is they can pick and choose which narratives to carry over into subsequent episodes while having the freedom to keep the show topical.

South Park returned for its 21st season Wednesday, and with it came the requisite analysis and discussions about whether or not it hit the mark in lampooning today's sociopolitical climate.

Matt and Trey said they wanted to protect this season against Trump fatigue, which was unavoidable last season when one of their essential characters, Mr. Garrison, took on the Trump role. Eventually, the two sides make good when Randy makes over a protester's home, complete with Confederate flag throw pillows. And while the show certainly pushed a lot of buttons last season by parodying the election as it unfolded, the season 21 premiere won't stray from that approach whatsoever.

If you have to get your South Park fix on Wednesday, you can use Sling TV. "So we chose to kind of back off and let them do their comedy and we'll do ours". In Season 19, for instance, the show's wider critique of PC culture produced some of its most memorable material of all time, while looking at the trend from a unique angle only South Park's writers could produce.

Perhaps this is most clear with a running joke through the episode with white nationalists waving their confederate flag for other purposes than pride ― such as to swat away a bee or cool down food.
