A few months after his disappearance, Georgie's brother Bill (Jaeden Lieberher-who was outstanding in 2015's "St. Vincent") is wracked with guilt because he's the one who sent Georgie out in the rain alone on that fateful day. It actually ties directly into Pennywise's - into It's - gruesome backstory, which itself is a major plot point of both the movie and the book it's based on. Yet no deal or official announcement had been put in place for the second film until now, as the massive undertaking was (somewhat justifiably) seen as a risk by WB. The film is said to be one of the best modern adaptations of his books, and is certainly something you don't want to miss. It's a straightforward story that focuses on the kids and how they come together to fight Pennywise. They all want to be kids - but they can't due to the fact that a killer clown is after them - as well as terrible bullies. The film explores some very dark subject matter that has nothing to do with Pennywise and the humor adds some much needed levity. Early reviews have already showered praise on their work, with the ensemble - which includes Stranger Things Finn Wolfhard - being tipped for future stardom. In addition, newcomer Jack Dylan Grazer plays another one of the boys and does a skillful job of showing morality and standing up for one's beliefs, despite the absurd situation the children are in. He's a little bit of a showman and given a lot more to say and do. Pennywise, who is keen to their fears, skillfully exploits what hurts each of them most. Unlike the 1990 version, this movie does not delve into the characters when they grow up and have to battle Pennywise again. I kept looking at Lillis and thinking Emma Stone would make a great adult version of Beverly! It's the same character, same insane, but with an updated/ sadistic twist too it. Producers of It considered California and NY as stand-ins for ME in the movie, but Ontario's landscapes were a good fit for the north-east United States and director Andy Muschietti had filmed there before.
