Tornado watch issued for Ottawa

Meteorologists say an isolated strong to severe storm is possible. The watch area includes Syracuse, Buffalo and Burlington, Vermont.

At the same time a cold front well to our west is generating some heavy weather that we are keeping an eye on, including a tornado watch. Hot and humid conditions ahead of this front will increase the risk for severe weather due to extra moisture in the atmosphere.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for northern NY and northwest Vermont until 9 pm.

There is the potential of severe thunderstorms between 6 p.m. and midnight Tuesday in the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey, the National Weather Service reports.
