"I played good, and have been playing good for a while", Every said.

The PGA Tour season ended on Sunday and with it went the hopes of two Canadian golfers, David Hearn and Brad Fritsch.

But the 2006 US Open victor fought back with two rounds of 66 to get inside the top 25 then turned on an exhibition over the opening nine holes of the final day. He is one shot back after finishing with six birdies and one bogey in his bid to win for the first time in over five years.

Sunday was Zac Blair's 27th birthday, but the Ogden native and former BYU golfer didn't receive the present he wished for most - continued exempt status on the PGA Tour.

Stenson said he left his driver in his locker all week - "he's a little anxious to get out there and start getting some air time next week", he quipped of the club - and certainly didn't need it on the par-70 Sedgefield course. He birdied the 13th as well as the 15th, 16th and 17th holes to pip the young American. Dru Love shot 75 on Saturday and won't play in the last round (he tied for 75th).
