But when former Nokia execs banded together to create Finnish startup HMD Global previous year and bought the rights to the Nokia name back from Microsoft, the storied brand got a second lease on life. However, it is unclear that whether HMD global will live stream the Nokia 8 launch event or not. Nokia 8 has a slight curved design, which makes the phone easy to hold and use. It's typical of modern smartphone design, and has been generally well-received by phone reviewers.

The rear is dominated by the vertical dual camera setup below which sits the Nokia branding.

The Nokia 8, which like its predecessors comes crafted from a single piece of aluminium, has shunned the recent shift towards bezel-less smartphones and comes equipped with a physical home button, which houses a baked-in fingerprint sensor.

Of course, the Nokia 8 has some incredibly strong competition right now, most notably from the OnePlus 5.

While there are four colors launching early next month (Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue and Steel), it's the all-body, glowing, copper finish that most deserves your attention.

The defining factor of a flagship is its processor. Internally, the phone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. To ensure it can handle the strain, there's a "copper cooling pipe" - seriously - that runs across the phone from one corner of the device to the other. In an interview, Nokia spokespeople noted how they had taken design cues from furniture, particularly lamps. HMD, which is partially led by past execs from the former mobile phone giant, acquired the rights to use the Nokia name on its phones previous year.

While previous rumors suggested that the flagship device from Nokia could ship with Android O, the smartphone was unveiled running stock version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat. To date, the company has only released one phone with the Nokia branding Stateside: the Nokia 6, a budget-level device that is sold exclusively through Amazon.

In addition, the fall contest will be complicated by the insurgent candidacy of Jim Bennett, son of the late three-term Sen. Jim Bennett is running as the first candidate of a new centrist party, the United Utah Party.

The standout feature for this device is the pair of 13-megapixel cameras on the back, which features Carl ZEISS optics.

There's still a lot of affection and interest in the Nokia brand, as the relaunch of the Nokia 3310 proved earlier this year. The rear camera (s) can also record video in 4K resolution.

The one unusual feature of the Nokia 8 is something HMD calls "Dual-Sight".

Nokia 8 specs: what hardware will make it tick?

The PPI of the Nokia 8 stands at 550 pixels per inch and despite featuring an LCD panel, the company claims that the flagship will get noticeably bright, at 700 nits. On the bottom, the phone sports a USB C port which supports fast charging and all the conveniences that come with the USB C standard. This feature can be utilised for both photos and videos. It's also a heavier phone at 160 grams. The latter captures spatial sound using three onboard microphones. While the Nokia 8 isn't waterproof, it's IP54 certified, making it splash proof.

The Nokia 8 has been launched in the United Kingdom with a price tag of Euro 599 (roughly Rs. 45,200 or US$ 705) and will be made available for purchase starting early September in four attractive body shades including Polished Blue (glossy finish), Polished Copper (glossy finish), Tempered Blue (matte finish), and Steel (matte finish).
