Rams get: The Bills' sixth-round draft pick and receiver Sammy Watkins. If they release a package of players later this month, they could add another 2018 third-round pick as part of the NFL's compensatory draft pick system.

Additionally, the Bills traded corner back Ronald Darby to Philadelphia in exchange for wide receiver Jordan Matthews and the Eagles' 2018 third round pick. Entering his fourth season, the former Vanderbilt wideout has 225 receptions for 2,673 yards and 19 touchdowns under his belt.

Buffalo's overall approach with these trades, and specifically the loss of Watkins, can not sit well with starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Rams want to surround quarterback Jared Goff with as many weapons as possible.

The question is, was it enough?

That's how the Buffalo Bills' offense started Thursday's game against the Minnesota Vikings at New Era Field. Last season, Watkins played in just eight games and totaled 430 yards and two scores on 28 catches. His rookie campaign included a 65 catch effort with 982 receiving yards and six scores.

For now, that looks like good work from first-year general manager Brandon Beane, who was a candidate for the 49ers' opening last winter before they settled on John Lynch. Watkins can be that type of dynamic threat when healthy. Watkins is an extremely talented No. 1 receiver who shines on the outside. Watkins' absence will give also potentially allow rookie Zay Jones to step up and claim the first spot on the team's depth chart at receiver far earlier than anyone expected him to. At the time, it was a move that made sense because the team was essentially telling him to prove he could stay healthy and produce.
