US President Donald Trump intervened to clear visas for a group of Afghan girls who were planning to participate in a robotics competition. "We applied again for the USA visa and we were rejected again". The teenage girls were granted special entry to the United States along with the members of team Gambia, whose travel visas had also been previously denied by the U.S. State Department.

However, when Trump came to know about the case, he intervened and made a decision to grant the visas to the girls.

There isn't an explanation as to why the team was initially rebuffed, but they are now bound for the event thanks to the DHS allowing them to have "parole" status, which means they can enter the United States precisely because of the public benefit their mere presence would garner for the nation, via the report. Several years ago, Shaheen said, 12 female university lecturers won scholarships to obtain master's degrees in economics in Germany.

First Global president Joe Sestak - who had previously expressed his disappointment in the girls' visa denial - has commended the U.S. government for overturning the ban.

This president is devoid of competence and accomplishment that people in his administration, like Kellyanne Conway, are going to desperate lengths to try to spin some sort of productive activity that they can use as a positive sign that Trump is not a total failure of a president.

Roodaba Noori, a member of the team, said they got extremely sad when their visa application was rejected earlier this month.

The girls go to three different high schools in Afghanistan and will be traveling with their team manager, Alireza Mehraban.

"We continued working on our robots to show that Afghan girls are capable of doing big things", Mehraban said.

"I truly believe our greatest power is the power to convene nations, to bring people together in the pursuit of a common goal and prove that our similarities greatly outweigh our differences", he said.

State Department officials do not comment on individual visa cases, but experts speculated that consular officers could have denied the visas out of concern that the girls could attempt to remain in the United States.
