"The CAC goes out of the picture once the coach is selected". Because "Virat needs to understand how the coaches will operate. So, that is the way we look at it and that is the way we will deal with this", Ganguly said.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who's part of the CAC, said at a press conference: "We will hold on for a few days on the announcement of India's next coach". What we felt as the advisory committee is that he is the captain, which is the most important thing. We want to speak to Kohli when he returns from America.

The BCCI received ten applications but narrowed it down to six: shortlisting Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Philip Simmons.

"It has to be decided for one and all because everybody will be different".

The position for the coach had fallen vacant after Anil Kumble resigned from the post before the West Indies tour due to what seemed like differences in the dressing room. All of us sitting here want the best possible thing for Indian cricket.

U.S. job creation surges in June, pointing to market's resilience

On January 30, the apex court had appointed a new four-member BCCI panel of administrators led by Vinod Rai, along with noted historian Ramachandra Guha, managing director of IDFC Limited Vikram Limaye and former captain of the women's cricket team Diana Edulji as other administrators. He even said that CAC would talk to the present Indian captain Virat Kohli before announcing the name. Apart from what a prospective India coach's vision is for the future - and Ganguly said all the presentations were outstanding - his style of functioning seems to be equally, if not more, important now. Why? "We want to have a word with Virat before finalising so that everybody is on the same page".

However, it is still not clear what would be the view point of Sourav Ganguly, with whom Shastri had a very public spat with both taking potshots at each other.

The former India skipper added that Kohli refrained from giving his inputs to the CAC. "We have to give credit to Virat".

Reports had suggested that it was Tendulkar's call to Shastri that prompted him to put his name in the hat for the post.
