Philadelphia has had a string of bad luck when it comes to injuries and their top draft picks in the recent past.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Markelle Fultz is not expected to play for the rest of the summer league because of an ankle sprain suffered on Saturday in Las Vegas, a source told ESPN's Marc J. Spears. Instead, his teammates had to help him down the tunnel and into the locker room to be evaluated by doctors.

"We will treat him accordingly and be as cautious as we can, making sure he is healthy", 76ers summer league coach Lloyd Pierce said, referring to what would eventually be accessed as a high ankle sprain.

I think every single Philadelphia 76ers fan on the planet threw out a few expletives as they either saw or heard about the injury to first-overall pick Markelle Fultz.

Fultz was a member of the 2016 Team USA Under-18 team that won the FIBA Americas World Championships last July. And then he was ruled out for the whole season. The good news is that Fultz's outlook with an injury like this shouldn't put his regular season debut in question.

Joel Embiid, the team's No. 3 overall pick in 2014, missed his first two seasons and played just 31 games this past campaign due to foot ailments.

Naturally, social media was abuzz after Fultz's injury.
