With a few teams now tied up in offer sheets to other free agent targets, the Brooklyn Nets are expected to be a top contender for KCP's services. Nothing works as well without him, and the Celtics will miss the two-time All-Defensive guard on both ends. In seven seasons with the Celtics, he averaged 12.1 points and 3.1 rebounds. Ainge singled out Rozier after seeing him in Boston recently.

OK, so scratch that.

However, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that those talks have come to a stall, and the Celtics are engaged in trade talks throughout the National Basketball Association. They have several bodies to throw at LeBron in an impending playoff matchup and they have the personnel to boast one of the best offenses in the league.

Through two seasons, Johnson has been far too inefficient to fill that role, which is why he briefly ended up out of Stan Van Gundy's rotation a year ago.

For Detroit, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope became expendable, with Luke Kennard, combo guard Langston Galloway and Bradley joining the team over the past few weeks.

Flight MH17 suspects to be tried in Netherlands

Now with Bradley, Detroit lets Caldwell-Pope walk, save a lot of money, and are left with a similar yet better 3-and-D star. Bradley, in the same 33 minutes that Caldwell-Pope averaged, scored 16.3 points with a 46.3 percent accuracy.

Landing Gordon Hayward was always going to come with a sacrifice for the Boston Celtics and that effect manifested in trading away Avery Bradley. Clearing enough space for KCP doesn't seem possible now, and the Pistons renounced his rights Friday. The best-case option had them paying Bradley more than $20 million a year, a move that in conjunction with re-signing All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas would have pushed them deep into the luxury tax for the foreseeable future. "Real One. Thanks Truth", Morris Tweeted in tribute to Pierce, after Pierce's final game, as reported by Boston's CBS affiliate website.

The return isn't all that exciting, but the larger implications for the Celtics still are.

Obviously Bradley is a more dynamic shooter off screens, but when the player is simply spotting up, their production is close to the same.

During the three times their teams played this most recent season, James averaged 22 points on 56 percent shooting from the field, but just 9 percent from three. It's been rumored at times that point guard Reggie Jackson and big man Andre Drummond could be on the trading block as well.
