This could be a blow for Liverpool, as they will now have to look elsewhere if indeed they are interested in signing a player of Oxlade-Chamberlain's type.

Liverpool have been looking to sign a top quality midfielder to strengthen their team in the summer transfer window and one of the stars linked is England global Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

After confirming the signing of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke in early June, a month later the north London outfit have announced the club record signing of Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette for a reported £43m plus around £10-15m in add-ons - clearly marking intent from Wenger.

Monaco's Thomas Lemar could be a potential contender to take over the role from Sanchez, but the Principality club appear to be holding out for at least £80m in order to let go of the France global.

The pair have been linked with Manchester City and Liverpool respectively and any exit would hand the Gunners a huge blow, especially following the losses of the likes of Robin Van Persie, Emmanuel Adebayor and Samir Nasri in recent years. He's much more motivated by playing in it, and of course, to win it.

Speculation has been rife that the Chilean would leave the club this summer, but speculation was that he could end up at Bayern Munich.

The player enjoyed one of the most productive campaigns of his career in the recently concluded season, grabbing 30 goals and 19 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.

Lemar is close friends with his France global team-mate Lacazette and Arsenal hope this could help swing the deal.

Mesut Ozil, meanwhile, has dropped a hint he could stay at Arsenal. "There's nothing that will make us budge", he said.

"My friends who follow the French league know him well and have told me that I'll definitely have fun with him on the pitch".
