Trump says he is under investigation in Russian Federation inquiry

"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"

It is believed he was referring to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mr Mueller as special prosecutor to investigate the Trump campaign.

The president launched his latest tweetstorm Friday morning, during which he once again blasted the mainstream media, described the probes of his administration as a "witch hunt" and seemingly confirmed that he is now under investigation.

Days after Comey was abruptly ousted, Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

Rosenstein is the Justice Department official who was put in charge of any matters relating to Russian collusion or interference with the 2016 US presidential elections, after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself in March.

The probe by special counsel Robert Mueller, a former FBI chief, "marks a major turning point in the almost year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin", The Washington Post had reported.

President Donald Trump says it's "sad" that seven months of investigations and hearings into possible links between his campaign and Russian Federation have been fruitless.

Talks between UK PM May's Conservatives and Northern Ireland's DUP restart
The veteran conservative predicted that Britain would regret its departure from the bloc at some point in the future. SDLP leader Colum Eastwood said the Prime Minister had not convinced him the "DUP tail is not wagging the Tory dog".

"Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations", Rosenstein said. "The Department of Justice has a long-established policy to neither confirm nor deny such allegations".

He said Trump's statement on Twitter on Friday was specifically in response to a story in The Washington Post about the expanding probe into Russia's election meddling.

Information on former campaign manager Paul Manafort, former adviser Carter Page, former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, business partner of Manafort's Rick Gates, and Roger Stone, who is called an informal Trump adviser in the document, is also being sought in the memo.

Trump also criticized the change in focus of the investigation on Thursday, saying that it was run by "some very bad and conflicted people!"

If that is the case, it could be part of what appears to be a pattern of statements that are meant to back the president. "We are not aware of any instance when that has occurred", Pompeo said in a statement.

President Donald Trump has taken on "obsessive behavior", constantly sending out defensive tweets, saving morning news programs to watch later and even blurting out during meetings that he's not under investigation, Politico reported Thursday.
