A staff member for Texas Rep. Roger Williams who was shot at Wednesday morning's congressional baseball practice is "okay", according to a post on his Facebook page.

"And everything stops, time slows down, and I'm wondering what's going on", said Zach Barth, a congressional aide for Texas Rep. Roger Williams, who recalled the terrifying experience in an interview with Fox News Thursday morning.

Williams said the staffer, Zack Barth, is doing well and is expected to make a full recovery.

Barth was one of four victims shot Wednesday, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, U.S. Capitol Police Special Agent Cristal Griner and Matt Mika, a lobbyist for Tyson Foods and the company's government relations director.

Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise was in critical condition after being shot in the hip when the gunman began firing shortly after 7 the park and baseball field in Alexandria, Va.

The representative explained how he was oblivious to the danger, even after gunman James Hodgkinson, 66, fired his first shot at the Republican lawmakers.

"I would have been in the line of fire", Mr. Costello, clearly emotional, told reporters at the Capitol. "It is clear to me, based on eyewitness accounts, that without these heroes, Agents Bailey and Griner, many lives would have been lost", Mr. Ryan said in a floor speech. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., tied a tourniquet around Barth's wounded leg using Brooks' belt.

"We saw two people risk their lives to save the lives of others", Williams said, "we saw courage in the face of death, and we saw examples why all Americans should be grateful every day for law enforcement officers around this country".

White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday an announcement would come "when the president is ready to make it". "So that's what I do remember", he said.

At least one of those bullets apparently struck Barth in the leg while he was retrieving balls in the outfield, Williams recounted Wednesday afternoon at a news conference.

"I heard the first shot and I wasn't sure, I thought maybe it was the backfiring of a vehicle", Williams said, "but then the second and the third and everybody yelled, 'he's got a gun, run for cover.' So that's what I did".

'They saved all of us out there, ' he said, 'There is no question about it'. Something Livingston said they are very passionate about.

"If he had gotten on the field, we had nowhere to go", Williams said.

"Many people likely would have died this morning if not for the bravery of the Capitol Police", said Sen. The entire exchange lasted around 10 minutes.
