When Sony's PlayStation media briefing at E3 2017 kicked off tonight, the music that began playing immediately reminded me of some music from an all-time favorite game of mine, Shadow of the Colossus. Sony just showed off a stunning trailer that depicts a few of the Colossi towering above the player.

While we only got a brief snippet during the conference, it sure looked like a great visual upgrade worthy of a port. Check out the trailer for yourself below. Sony had previously added a remaster of Shadow of the Colossus to its PlayStation 3 library back in 2011, and now 5 years later it seems like gamers are for yet another nostalgic treat involving the title. If you want to know more then stick around here at Gamer Professionals. It's certainly always possible that this remake could deliver new chapters, new stories, new monsters, and a generally expanded take on the original title, but at the moment, we're going to assume that most of the original game's core elements are in place.

Shadow of the Colossus is widely regarded as one of the best games ever made, with fans having called for a remastered edition to make its way to the PS4 for a while now.

It's absolutely hilarious because Jim Ryan, the chief financial executive at Sony had said that people didn't care about backwards compatibility, and yet here they are remaking one of the classic games from the PS2 era.

Shadow of the Colossus originally launched for PlayStation 2 in 2005 as a spiritual successor to Ico.
