Cavs' best effort not good enough to beat the Warriors

Toying with other teams, Golden State has turned the National Basketball Association postseason into its personal playground, storming to a record 15 straight wins and moving within a victory on Friday night in Game 4 of another title and into the conversation of the best teams ever. But it's hard to imagine them coming out with a similarly inspiring effort, considering the bleak history of teams that fall behind 3-0 in games in an National Basketball Association playoff series.

The Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night were able to squeeze out a critical win in Game 3 against the Cleveland Cavaliers to grab a commanding 3-0 lead in the NBA Finals.

That would be, of course, the Bill Russell Award that goes to the MVP of The Finals, to the player who was great in the most games of the most important series.

Durant has 102 points in the first three games of these Finals.

"We talked about it since The Finals last year that the last season was a very unique year, for a lot of different reasons, and we learned a lot", Curry said.

"I'm not dealing with an MCL situation", Curry said.

"I said it after we won the Eastern Conference Finals that we're getting ready for a juggernaut", James said.

"It wasn't our smartest game that we have played all year, but it was maybe our toughest in terms of our ability to just hang in there".

Steph Curry had 26 points, 13 boards, six assists, five from beyond the arc and was flawless at the free-throw line, while Irving had 38 points for the Cavs. The Cavs went to Irving, who was guarded by Klay Thompson just like he was on Christmas Day when Irving hit a game victor on the very same court. "I think we have grown and matured just mentally of how to just pace yourself through this long year and take every day as a new experience and something that you can kind of take control of".

One more victory, and the Warriors will have their second championship in three seasons.

They are averaging almost 119 points and winning by a record 16.9 per game in the postseason, and they've really picked it up lately.

Things looked good for the Cavs when they put up a 33-point third quarter and carried their momentum into the fourth.

Both Durant and Thompson said they noticed the mental effect their lightning-quick scoring bursts have on opponents. "I don't want to get too far off of the goal at hand and the task at hand". James dropped to the floor and a hush fell over Cleveland's crowd as the three-time champ laid in the foul lane like a boxer sprawled on the canvas after taking an upper cut.

As it turns out, everything he had-and everything Irving had-simply wasn't enough.

"I just try to stay positive and know in the fourth that coach is going to call my number and my teammates are going to look for me and it's up to me to finish". "I don't want to relax". He was comfortable and we tried to make it as uncomfortable as possible.
