"I believe democracy is at risk right now, and I believe that we need the truth, absolutely we need the truth, as far as whether Russian Federation meddled in the election", a demonstrator said.

In New York City, demonstrators gathered at Foley Square, where they listened to speakers including Javier Munoz of Broadway's "Hamilton".

The topic before the Senate Intelligence Committee is "Russian Federation efforts to interfere in the 2016 elections", and the big topic will be whether - and more likely, how - Comey says Trump pressured him to drop the investigation into Trump campaign ties to Russian interference. Conway later acknowledged the mistake and corrected her statement on Twitter.

Trump supporters, meanwhile, got together in Washington, D.C. for a much smaller rally that they dubbed "Pittsburgh Not Paris".

BEDMINSTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A few hundred protesters are rallying against President Donald Trump near one of his New Jersey golf clubs.

The "Pittsburgh, Not Paris" event is meant to celebrate President Trump fulfilling his campaign promise, and stand in solidarity with the president.

The March for Truth shared several goals, including the independent commission "properly resourced and pursued free of partisan interests".

Organizers also used the occasion to celebrate the "resistance" movement against the Trump administration, and implored the crowd to stay involved for the long haul.

"What's unfortunate is the media that's making the division ― and the other leftist group ― but the reality is people do support what he's doing", an unidentified Trump supporter told Fox News.

About 300 people on Saturday demonstrated in Denver against President Donald Trump.

"The Rosenstein memo was phony, we want testimony from Comey!" the protestors chanted, criticizing Trump's decision to fire the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation after receiving a recommendation from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. "The public needs whatever information it is allowed to have that's not classified".

The march moved through downtown before wrapping up at Seattle Center.

Trump has repeatedly said on the campaign trail and while in office he does not have financial interests in Russian Federation.

Paola Mendoza, the artistic director of the Womens March, was among those marching in NY on Saturday. "I can't believe that this is what America has become".

But in New York City, hundreds of protestors took to the streets for the "March for Truth".

Marchers said making their presence felt was important, even if the White House does not acknowledge it.
